Cataract surgery for multifocal wearers
Medownick offers a procedure called Multifocal ReFocus cataract surgery that combines cataract and multifocal corrective surgery. It turns back the clock, giving you back the vision of your 20s and 30s. This surgery isn’t suitable for everyone, but if your vision is suffering and you want to be free from glasses, we encourage you to come in for a free consultation to discuss your individual situation with our expert team.
What is Multifocal ReFocus cataract surgery?
Multifocal ReFocus cataract surgery is a treatment for presbyopia that implants a unique multifocal foldable intraocular lens (IOL) into the eye. The treatment can be combined with cataract surgery on suitable candidates.
There are different types of implantable lenses to meet your unique eye health and lifestyle needs. At Medownick Laser Eye Clinic, our surgeons only use the best available premium IOLs, including ReStor, Tecnis and ReZoom Multi-Focal IOLs, and Alcon Toric, Toric Multi-Focal and Crystalens IOLs.
An implantable lens allows most people to see well anywhere – day or night, and over near, middle or far distances. It has helped tens of thousands of people get rid of their reading or multifocal glasses – permanently.
Am I suitable for Multifocal ReFocus Cataract Surgery?
Multifocal ReFocus Cataract Surgery is not suitable for everyone, and you will need to undergo thorough testing and assessment to understand if you are a suitable candidate for a successful treatment. But imagine never having to wear glasses again…
Every person’s eyes we treat is unique, so if you are unsure whether this surgery is for you, we encourage you to book a no-obligation assessment so you can be fully informed about the possibilities.
What to expect after Multifocal ReFocus cataract surgery?
Most people are extremely happy with their vision immediately after their Multifocal ReFocus Cataract Surgery procedure. However, there is an adjustment period, as your brain needs to relearn how to ‘see’ up close and at a distance with the new implanted lens. This usually lasts for a period of six to 24 weeks, with patients reporting a ‘halo’ or sensitivity to the glare around lights. For most people, this will diminish over time.
