For patients who also have short-sightedness, long-sightedness or astigmatism, these can be treated at the same time.

What it does
Using Victoria's only Schwind ATOS laser, alongside the Schwind Amaris laser, our surgeon carefully calibrates soft, cool laser treatments to both eyes. The laser corrects to a unique vision-range for each eye, resulting in a personalised "blend zone" between the two to create the vision outcomes you most want and need.
Who is eligible?
Recommended for suitable patients aged approximately 40-53 who are experiencing presbyopia (age-related vision changes). Patients with myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism (blurred vision) can also be treated with PresbySmart. Depending on their refraction, patients may be able to stop relying on reading glasses, driving glasses, or both.
Time spent in recovery
Recovery after PresbySmart is very fast, but will depend on the specific laser treatment used, as well as your body's own healing response. In most cases your recovery will be just a few days, and we will advise you during your free assessment if you do not fit into this category.
Price accessibility
PresbySmart starts at $3000 per eye, making it very affordable compared to other treatments for presbyopia. Medownick is also able to offer interest-free, no-deposit payment plans for up to 24 months, so you can spread repayments out over time. Our fee is all-inclusive; friends and family-members of our patients receive discounts; and any medically-needed enhancement procedures are free within two years.
Actual laser time
The procedure usually takes between 15 minutes to half an hour to treat both eyes, although the actual time under the laser is a matter of seconds. No need for hospital stays, eye patches, sutures, implants or anaesthetists. We'll give you anaesthetic drops to numb your eyes, and you’ll be able to walk out and head home as soon as it’s over.
